The COVER Reveal! (and a competition)

She's sparkly, you guys!

As regular readers know, I am a desperately impatient author-in-waiting. This time last year I revealed that Penguin had bought my as yet unwritten debut. Then a few months back when the uncorrected proof copies started winging their way to book people, journalists and other writers, I shared that its title is REALITY CHECK and it was available to pre-order. Well, now I can reveal the final cover… and I’m so thrilled with it, I could puke!!!

When I was a magazine editor, I loved the day each month when it was time to show off the fruits of our labour, a pretty, glossy photo of a gorgeous girlie that was designed to jump off the shelf and insist you buy it. This feels like a MUCH bigger version of that.

Funnily enough, the woman who conceived of this design Charlotte Daniels shares her surname with my fictional family. She got me and what this book is about so intrinsically, it couldn’t be more perfect. Zero changes, print the thing!

Thank you so much to everyone who has already pre-ordered the book. I know it’s frustrating to wait until May 9th to get it and believe me, I wish it was coming out tomorrow! But there’s a method to these things, and I promise it will be worth it. Pre-ordering is so helpful for a debut author, all of the physical books purchased before it comes out count towards your first week sales, and of course we want this to land on the bestsellers chart. I appreciate the orders more than you know!
